Carlos A. Galvani, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor of surgery in the Division of General Surgery, Section of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery Baylor College of Medicine. Dr Galvani received special training in gastrointestinal surgery and gastrointestinal motility at the University of California San Francisco. He completed his training with fellowships in advanced laparoscopic/robotic surgery and in laparoscopic bariatric surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has special interest in surgical treatment of obesity-related diseases, gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal hernia, achalasia of the esophagus, surgical treatment of gastroparesis, solid organ surgery, esophageal cancer and abdominal wall hernias. Dr. Galvani has been an invited lecturer numerous of times, nationally and internationally and has been involved in multiple surgical research projects.
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, holds membership in other professional societies, including SAGES, and the the American Hernia Society, and the Surgical Society of the Alimentary Tract.
